Well i have yet stuck this problem in the new comp and went and had a look in the bios .

but cannot recall where the RTS ?RTL ? or whatever it is called will be in what area setting . . . . . . . cos it is slighlty annoying to forget to unplug it and then find it going again!

help to clear up this little ditty would be good please . . . . . .

ticking the wake on ring box does not change it i am afraid .

172131 2004-09-15 07:15:00 You want to untick the wake on ring beet, have you done this from Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager > Modem > Properties and have a rumage around in there plus Modem Properties directly in Control Panel, IIRC, don't have a modem anymore. Can't help with the BIOS side unless you give an idea of make but could be in Power Management, just have a tootle around, if you think you've changed something and don't want ti to stick Exit Without Saving.

PS. I'm about as much use as 1 yr ago to you ;)

172132 2004-09-15 07:18:00 BTW, it's probably called Wake On Ring ROL the network card equevalent is Wake On Lan WAL, if you see the latter the former shouldn't be too far away.

172133 2004-09-15 08:43:00 Well it does not jump out at me in any shape or form, so have had no luck finding what it is or isnt.

no clues here.

172134 2004-09-15 09:21:00 First carry out some simple elimination tests beetle: Just pull the phone line from the socket when you go out. or after you turn it off.

If it still starts you can forget about phone related causes, and if it doesn't start you can bore in to the "wake on ring" stuff.

Cheers

172135 2004-09-15 09:29:00 Yeah i done that part, i have now to find where it is in bios or what it is actually called,
as unticking wake on ring makes no change,
WOR or WOL doesnt show up, but something called power on ring does, but it says its disabled anyway?

so no further ahead.
