172373 2003-09-01 21:46:00 I am running Windows 2000 pro and have just loaded Winfax on my machine

The default settings cause certain components to load automatically and I wish to stop this from happening so I can load them manually when I CHOOSE to.

I have checked the startup folder and there is nothing there relating to Winfax.

This suggests that the items are being loaded from the registry entries.

How can I prevent this app from loading automatically?

172374 2003-09-01 22:12:00 Go start-run and type in msconfig A window will open with one of the pages saying startup. In there, just untick what you don't want to start up. I think you may have to have administration rights to do it though. Pheonix (280)

172376 2003-09-01 23:02:00 Windows 2000 doesn't come with msconfig!

You can get a copy from a Windows XP PC and run it in Windows 2000 though.
