2003-09-01 12:42:00 | sounds like you might have a setting on the MB to check...... might be the FSB is set too slow 100 vs 133

2003-09-01 12:45:00 | I have xp1800 and that is 1.6 gig,so seems unlikely yours will be 1.25. in fact....Athlon XP 2000+ operates at 1.67 GHz Athlon XP 1900+ operates at 1.60 GHz Athlon XP 1800+ operates at 1.53 GHz Athlon XP 1700+ operates at 1.47 GHz Athlon XP 1600+ operates at 1.40 GHz Athlon XP 1500+ operates at 1.33 GHz

2003-09-01 12:45:00 | If it has a clock speed of 1666, then the reported 1250 just happens to be 100/133 x 1666 That suggests your FSB speed is 100 MHz and should be 133 MHz. Set it up according to your BIOS or motherboard and it may be all OK?

2003-09-01 12:46:00 | thanks having just posted that I see that other people have had this problem forums.infomaticsonline.co.uk am running 512 mb ddr ram how do I alter this setting to get the correct processor speed? Is it relatively simple? Thanks for all the help jim

2003-09-01 12:50:00 | Yep,relativly easy. Step one, find the book on your motherboard... why? Because on some boards its a jumper,on others its a bios setting, either way the book should point you in the right direction.

2003-09-01 12:54:00 | from the bok it looks like i need to alter the bios " the bios utility can detect the system memory utility automatically. You can check the total system memory value in the bios standard cmos setup menu" Is this the one? do I have to enter bios?
