172665 2003-09-03 01:43:00 If I click on any of my favourites it says the page cannot be displayed.
If I type an URL in address bar a message pops up from Internet Explorer saying Internet Explorer could not open the search page.
This happened after I defragged my three drives. I ran System Restore and all worked okay. Then I defragged again and the same thing happened.
But now I cannot get another restore point for some reason.
How would defrag do this?

172666 2003-09-03 03:59:00 Goto /start/settings/control panel/add or remove programs/ and open Internet Explorer to UNINSTALL it. In the popup menu U should see an option to "REPAIR internet explorer", try this! :| electronhell (3374)
172667 2003-09-03 05:13:00 Thanks for the feedback but it didn't work.
Any other suggestions?

172668 2003-09-03 05:19:00 I'm going to suggest running a 'thorough' scandisk, as it may be that its having trouble with some files being corrupt?

Aside from that, next time it happens, try this:
Click Start
Run
type (For Win9x/ME):
command
or for Win2K/XP:
cmd
then in the new command window, type in:
ping 210.48.100.45

Post back with what it says!

Cheers

172669 2003-09-03 05:56:00 Is your email working in your mail program.

Have you a firewall installed.

172671 2003-09-03 06:15:00 My e-mail's not working and I have Zone Alarm v 2.6. Hilton (293)
172672 2003-09-03 06:30:00 In Zone alarm select Security at the top.
Set all settings to Low

Select Programs at the top
Make sure IE and OE are enabled

When it starts working you should be able to set security back to your normal settings.

172673 2003-09-03 08:26:00 That didn't work either. Hilton (293)
172674 2003-09-03 08:34:00 What anti-virus have you got installed and what Win system.
It could be network protocol or server setting incorrect

I would still suspect a firewall problem, try switching Zone Alarm off.
