| 172685 | 2003-09-06 02:33:00 | I had this problem ages ago, but I could connect if I rebooted (as It seemed to do it after a short while unused or in suspend) So unfortunately I cant remember exactly what it was but I think it was something to do with ZA, so I suggest you try the latest one after un-installing the 2.6 that you have. I also recall that I could get to connect if I disabled in the services 'servnet' or 'netserv' or something that sounds a little like that (my memory's a shocker!!) any way give the ZA thing a go first or even check their site for info... |

| 172688 | 2003-09-06 03:37:00 | You can access your ISP. You can't get anywhere else. That probably means that you are not able to access a DNS server. You can ping out with a numeric IP address. It's only name.domain.tld things which don't work, and that's because the Internet doesn't use the names. Check your Connection settings and make sure that you have the DNS Server setting the ISP requires. |

Go to the zone labs site print out the uninstall instructions for zone alarm as it applies to operating syystem, uninstall it see if you can access the internet and emails then post back tell us the results. I have known zone alarm to cause this sort of problem and I hate to say this sometimes the only cure is a clean reinstall There is one other thing you could try, that is to run sfc (System File Checker) The process is similar for 98se and xp (not sure about ME) go to the run box type in "command" ("cmd" for xp) then type in sfc ( you may need your install disk depends on your Operating System, XP yes, 98 se sometimes)If you your pc has a recovery partion or recovery cd rom you may have problems with this because if remember correctly you must have an os installation cd rom not a recovery cdrom. if you have disabled the startup of zonealarm in msconfig this will differently cause this problem (experance tell me this :8} ). Good luck |
