173101 2003-09-05 01:18:00 I have recently downloaded BeOS 5 Personal Edition (just for fillding around with), but before I install it I would like to get the drivers for my GeForce FX and my VIA KT400 motherboard chipset. I can't find the drivers anywhere - am I able to use Linux drivers and they will work, or do I have to look elsewhere for them? wintertide (1306)
173102 2003-09-05 02:52:00 Sorry, can't help you mate; but I just had to say "Boy, a post which doesn't relate to Windows or Linux or Mac". :D Dolby Digital (160)
173103 2003-09-05 03:12:00 I doubt it ... BeOS is not Linux (or Windows), it's BeOS. :D

Doesn't that version install as a 500MB or so file in Windows? I don't think you'll break anything if you just install it, and try it. It might be able to pick up on the Windows drivers.

173105 2003-09-05 04:12:00 The one that installs under a 512MB file in Windows is the Personal Edition. I'm eventually going to install the Developer Edition, which is also free but installs from a CD onto a partition on the hard drive.

Might try the Windows drivers... doubt they will work though. Might also just take a wild swing and also try the linux drivers to see if they will work.

173106 2003-09-05 05:57:00 No windows drivers do'nt work.I believe there is a video driver similar to SciTechs SNAP OS/2 driver that words with a veriaty of cards, its been a while since I've mucked around with BeOS. Btw did you know that from BeoS PE you can actual install BeOS on its own HDD and boot as sand alone. Came across it a copy of years ago. A google search should find out how. mark.p (383)
