| 173096 | 2003-09-05 00:20:00 | I have an Epson Perfection 1250 scanner which I bought and used successfully with my iMac. Now I have a PC with Windows XP and even though I have used the CD with software and drivers for WINDOWS '98, 2000 and ME which came with my Scanner as well as downloading the available updated software and drivers for XP from Epson's site, I still receive an onscreen warning that 'installing this software is not recognized by XP and might likely cause conflicts and is not recommended to install.' (This is a rough translation from dutch) Seeing as there is no other software available on the Epson website, does that mean I’m expected to buy a new scanner, or what? My scanner is only just over 2 years old and still functions perfectly but because of the unreliability of the software, I've had problems and had to re-download the drivers before I could get it to scan. Has anyone else come across this sort of situation? |

| 173097 | 2003-09-05 02:23:00 | It might be just that Eposn haven't made it conform to all MS's requirements for software to get the MS Seal Of Approval . (for what that is worth :D) That's likely . . . after removing all drivers for Epson printers I had to go through contortions to get an HP printer not connected to an "Epson printer port" . Does the scanner work with the driver, or are you scared to load it, because XP might fall over? Two year old hardware . . . of course you're supposed to buy new gear . :D How can companies pay their top executives obscene amounts of money unless consumers perform their function and consume . ? |

| 173098 | 2003-09-05 08:03:00 | That surprises me that it wont work on XP I have a Epson Perfection 640 u which is older than your 1250 and it works fine. XP recognized it and loaded the correct drivers and its gone good since. Regards trev |

| 173099 | 2003-09-05 10:53:00 | Thanks guys . Yes, I have loaded the drivers and it does work with XP, but had to reload yesterday because my scanner refused to budge . It's going smoothly again now, but I was curious to know if this reloading biz is gonna have to be a regular operation . I bought this Epson back then because it was especially recommended by a local iMac retailer . . . . How as I to know I'd see the light and step over the fence? :D |
