| 173254 | 2003-09-05 21:33:00 | I've read here about administrator/user roles on XP Home.I'm on ME so haven't bothered with different logons.Friend and I don't know how to set the pc up that way,so I can load programs like freerip etc on for her. Any sites that explain how we do it,please? And the whole pc thing is new to her.Looks like Paradise are sending a cd to her to set up her connection to them.So a lot of updating to do first.And the Nortons runs out in December,just great! Thanks. |

Once you are in them, you can go to control panel and users. to set up more accounts. when you set up another account you have the options of the user being an computer administrator or user. | 173258 | 2003-09-07 10:18:00 | If there is only one user account on the computer that account will be an administrator account which is authorised to do all maintenance on the computer, including installing programs, etc. Do remember to ensure that the account is password protected for security, not just for the computer physically but also for when on the internet as protection against hackers. | tommy (2826) | ||
