173188 2003-09-05 10:59:00 Lo,

Can the projectors be used in daylight?? Or does it need the curtains drawn and pref in dawn?

Cheers.

173189 2003-09-05 11:01:00 Has to be a dark room unfortunately... my advice is to get a rear projection TV until plasma drops down to a price which makes it silly to stay with the standard TV's.

173190 2003-09-05 11:34:00 rear projection TV's suck in picture quality. next best thing to a tube tv is a projector, however good ones are not cheap and need to be installed correctly.

personally plasma screens are to exspencive, i would go with a top end tube TV, and yes loewe are very nice tv's highly recommended.

173192 2003-09-05 21:06:00 OK Bottom Line

173193 2003-09-05 21:46:00 Well if money was no problem, why not get two? One for bedroom, one for downstairs... and while you're at it, one for the toilet?? ?:|

At the end of the day, it's your money... general consensus is that a Plasma screen is not really value for money, but if you're not price sensitive, then it would be a cool toy to have. Just don't be upset when your screen starts fading in a few years.

And if you do buy one, make sure the added "extras" are already bundled in (TV tuner, outputs, stand) ... those can add up to another $3k to $4k if you aren't careful.

173195 2003-09-05 23:33:00 What is the life of a plasma?
Depending upon the model, we are told 30,000 - 40,000 hours before half brightness. At 10hrs/day that is 8 - 19 yrs.

173196 2003-09-06 00:07:00 If I was you, I would go for one of the new Samsung LCD rear projection TV's they retail for about $10,000, but they are a beautiful TV.

The support full HD-TV, pro scan, VGA and DVI inputs.

The bulbs are fairly cheap to replace as well, only $800.

If you get the chance to check one out I know some Noel Leemings stores are now stocking them... The store I saw them in had them sitting next to a Panasonic Plasma, and the Samsung was brighter and much clearer.
