173171 2003-09-05 05:30:00 Problems with opening the Windows have acer PC,pentium 4,1.6 GHz,OS is Windows XP Home Eddition. I am not been able to open the Windows or open the Computer in safe mode or with safe mode in command prompt. I am able to boot my computer using a floppy and access C drive. I have a Windows XP recovery CD supplied with the computer.I have not been provided with the XP installation CD. I have lot of important information on the Hard disk and i was told that i may loose them if i use the recovery CD. Please let me know if any other alternatives are available to start the windows on my computer and recover all my files in the hard disk. I was recently affected by the Blaster worm, which i cleared it using Nortan anti virus. Is this any problem with the changes to the registry on my computer due to the Worm attack. if so, is there any remedy for this situation . Thanks and regards Mohan Mohan (4514)
173172 2003-09-05 06:17:00 You could try doscdroast.freeweb.hu to copy your data to CDRom. assuming its a FAT32 file system. mark.p (383)
173173 2003-09-05 07:56:00 you need to transfer your data to another HDD can be done in safe mode or onto a seperate partition using partion magic 8 .
There is a reason most people keep their C: nice and small faster to defrag and easier to scan and backup or to do a reinstall .
