173604 2003-09-07 06:22:00 I'll be in Wellington this week, and so I was wondering if there are any decent computer shops nearby (ie walking distance) to Te Papa? I don't know Wellington at all, so don't send me too far away LOL

173605 2003-09-07 06:25:00 Heh... depends on what you define as walking distance ;-)

PC Company is two blocks away...

However computer shops per se I assume you mean somewhere you can pick up loose hardware and software etc rather than packaged toy shops?

Somewhere I could get to quickly, have time to browse, possibly buy something, and get back to Te Papa within the lunch hour :D

No no, I meant a real computer shop.

Yeah - I'm after software (games specfically), but hardware would be good too, if cheap enought :)

Where's the station in relation to Te Papa? (I REALLY don't know Wellington LOL)

> what day are you in wgtn?

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday

> I could be your guide :-)

That'd be great, except I'm busy most of the time, so it'll only be in lunch breaks and any other free time I can muster (by not turning up to some of the conference seminars :D)

Exactly what I was going to reccomend - there isn't much else out there.

Quay Computers (http://www.quay.co.nz) - Corner of Lambton Quay and Bowen Street

Wises Maps (http://www.wises.co.nz) should help you get there

173610 2003-09-07 06:43:00 All the normals like Bond and Bond, Computer City, Dick Smith Electronics etc are around the place.

But for software selection Quay is probably your best bet.

LOL thanks for that - very appropriate, considering I'm going to a conference that has a fair bit to do with mapping :D

Okay cool, thanks for that... I'm not sure what's happening yet, so if I find I've got some time I'll email you.

Cheers,
