174016 2003-09-09 00:41:00 I have a web page that some of you might have seen a few months ago.....

the URL is http://robsonde.no-ip.info/

the page is still getting some work done and wont be finished for a few more days/weeks.

at this point I am looking for people to play and tell me what they think.

I have devoliped with IE6 and would like feedback from users of other browsers.

the page will only be online for TODAY (now untill 10pm NZ time)

slow page loading times are a problem that I am looking at fixing (its a perl problem)

thank you.

174020 2003-09-09 01:21:00 Worked OK for me using avant 1024 x 768 Though you are right in that it is a little slow to load up. Pheonix (280)
174021 2003-09-09 01:25:00 You guys maybe experiencing problems as no-ip.info has to update the DNS and your DNS may take a while till it's updated but I've gone to the site and it's fine.

What type of playing would you like? As I couldn't find much apart from searching, visiting links and filling in a form. How does the form processing go about it, there was no error checking feature, or possibly no error spit out if it wasn't filled in correctly.

You say there's a perl problem, and I know Perl is pretty resource hungry have you considered something like PHP? I notice it's being run on Apache/1.3.27, page didn't load that slow, but for a simple page like that I think it maybe comparatively slow.

174022 2003-09-09 01:31:00 the slow page loading is due to the fact that the whole system is writen in perl and links back to MySql.

the problem is in the module that access the sql.

I only have a crap slow module and can get the faster one to compile on my system.

when I put it all up on the big server it will have the new perl module and be much faster.

the other fact is at the member I am serving form a dialup line :-)

174023 2003-09-09 01:38:00 Came up on par with most sites I visit. Even faster than many.
Look forward with interest to the finished product.
