174070 2003-09-09 04:47:00 I installed HDD Health from Sept CD last week.
I have been receiving an error message "raw read error" Has anyone else had this message with HDD Health?
I have checked my disk with Ontrack Data Advisor and can find no problem.
I don't want to risk hard disk failure but don't want to buy a new disk if it is not necessary.

174072 2003-09-09 07:52:00 I have mailed support@panterasoft.com and have been waiting for a reply.
I have read on another user group another user of HDD Health with the same problem. They had a vague response from partnerasoft.
The reason I posted here on Press F1 is that I find the help posted here is of a high standard and knowing that HDD Health was on the cover CD there must be quite a few people who have installed this utility. It could be that there are others that have had the same message. I will run a through scan disk. If that comes up ok and there is no known issues with HDD Health then I will buy a new HDD tomorrow as I cannot risk a disk failure.

174073 2003-09-09 08:46:00 If you have the Aida32 utility, then that will also give S.M.A.R.T HDD information, much the same as HDD Health.
Try it and see if you get the same error, if you do, then your HDD may well be on the blink.

174074 2003-09-09 11:17:00 Thanks very much for the help. I have downloaded the AIDA32 as you suggested and this is giving me a clean bill of health. I have also been to the Seagate site and downloaded there disk checking utility.
I think I will still be buying a new hard drive tomorrow just to be on the safe side. Once again thank you I can rest easy tonight.
