Like if I said there was a car crash outside my office guess what ethnicity the driver that caused it was? Or if I said there was an explosion from a car in the car park guess what ethnicity the detinator was? Russel Peters said it best . . . "The media twist the way of thinking . . . . like they show you a picture of a car crash and then an asian person . It's like their saying . . . . 'What do you think?' 1321834	2013-01-08 22:32:00	Ethnicity is not the issue. Where are the protesters in this forum voicing against the multiple despicable rape of the unfortunate Indian girl. And yet another incidence in the last 12 hours. Yes those were in a far away land, but we should be just as concerned. Why should we be worried about what is happening in India? We have enough issues of of our own as country to be worried about than worrying about rapists in India. Don't think that I approve of what they have done though.	QW. (15883)

If anything this highlights the need for a lot of cultural change. It is unfortunate that given the way people (NZ'ers in this case) think, that they assume the ethnicity in given situations. One of the observations in California used to be, if you saw a young well dressed Ivy League white guy driving by in the latest Cadillac you would think "what a successful young professional man, way on up the ladder of success." If however, the driver was an unattractive black man, you would think he was a very good at it pimp or drug dealer ... Unfortunately many of our reactions are formed by like derogatory stereotypical images, and perpetuated in the tenor of threads such as this.	WalOne (4202)
