Had to turn off "Avira Browser Safety" in Firefox and in Chrome turn off "Block this website" to get it to work. Looks a recent update has caused this. support.avira.com Bad enough Big Tech censor us, it looks like Avira is trying to get in on the act.:devil |

Even when you untick that box . They also resort to scareware popups , tricking the user into buying the uprated 'Pro' version. No better than the malware they claim to protect you from :badpc: |

| 1472297 | 2020-10-16 00:02:00 | If you are using Windows 10 you don't need it, Defender is very good, except that it takes forever to do a scan. In any other Windows I use "360 Total Security" (Chinese) which also replaces crap cleaner, and tunes the system. I have a copy of Windows 10 v2040 in which I have removed all traces of Defender (with the help of FatDog64 Linux), and replaced it with "360 Total Security". It boots in 19 seconds with fast boot disabled on a Dell Inspiron i7. |

| 1472298 | 2020-10-16 00:57:00 | "360 Total Security" uses the Bitdefender and Avira AntiVir antivirus engines (last I checked) So may as well use those programs instead , rather than 3rd party programs repackaging someone elses AV scanner :) After today spending a frustrating 3/4 hour trying to remove a (not free) crappy AV program on a Win10 PC , that went bad & was using 50% of the CPU & wouldnt uninstall , Im not a fan of most of these 'good' AV products that many people are very reluctant to move away from . Your AV program is causing all your issues , I need to remove it But I paid for it , I want to keep it :groan: |

Your AV program is causing all your issues , I need to remove it But I paid for it , I want to keep it McAfee is like that, if you uninstall it by "normal" Usually next thing you know its reinstalled its self again, as it leaves a "backup" of its self hidden. Usually use Revo uninstaller in Advanced mode removing left behind folders and reg keys, then run McAfees own removal tool to look for any parts left behind. Yeah that last piece is often the case. I always give advise if its knowingly giving problems, if they still insist then I make a obvious note on the invoice stating they didn't want the software removed. That way they cant say they weren't warned. At least with Nod32 you can get a cross grade license if you have a paid AV already. Its a New Licence at the price of a renewal. :) |
