To be a kiwi you have to be BORN here. Otherwise you are just a Claytons kiwi. I'm not certain you have to be born here, but you can't call yourself a Kiwi the minute you step off the plane. I quite agree with that, but don't you think that you qualify if you have been here for the past 50 years? That's how long SWMBO has been here and she calls herself a Kiwi. People tell her she still has an accent but I don't notice it. Anyway, I call her an Irish Kiwi.;) Surely that's acceptable? |
