174552 2003-09-11 06:16:00 Hi team

I'm facing a communications conundrum here. I can't get out on my email, which goes via Xtra, yet I can open a variety of websites and ping anything but Xtra to my heart's content.

I have three computers affected at the moment, one W98 and two W2K, which sort of confirms it as an external issue. They all connect via a D-Link DSS-8 switch and a Nokia Ni500 adsl router.

Pinging Xtra's DNS simply times out (202.27.184.3 or 202.27.184.5)

As usual there are no known problems on the network!

Any ideas?

Cheers

looks like Xtra is off line :-)

174555 2003-09-11 07:10:00 I had the same problem yesterday. Was testing an internet connection and tried pinging 202.27.184.3 but it kept timing out so I thought the internet connection was playing up! But when I tried pinging something else it was fine. CYaBro (73)
174556 2003-09-11 07:20:00 Probably to do with Sep 11th. Theres a worldwide virus alert on - supposed to be a doozey Holy Cow (4475)
174557 2003-09-11 07:51:00 I'm with Snap (http://www.snap.net.nz) and they're blocking ping and tracert traffic to help try and not contaminate the net too much with these blasters and the like doing the rounds. -=JM=- (16)
