174286 2003-09-10 02:23:00 Hi Team

ZTreeWin v1.49.2 is the latest update of the greatest file manager ever written. It is a full 32-bit rewrite of the late great XTree Gold and although it contains none of the original code, visually and functionally it is identical though much improved.

If you haven't seen it before, take a look Here (www.ztree.com)

It is a free download, and the 30 day trial keeps going forever (but with lengthier and lengthier reminders). It is worth paying for the licensed version and the program gives you a view of what is going on in your file system or disks like no other. You can find a file far faster than Windows will ever manage, and that includes the time to open the program and log the disk contents.

Read the users' comments to get an idea of the versatility, or download the PDF manual and read what it can do.

Cheers

174287 2003-09-10 02:27:00 Bet it's not as good as list, and that's free. :D (But it's a DOS programme) Of course, anything would be better than any of MS's file management things) Graham L (2)

174289 2003-09-10 03:04:00 It's better than List Graham, and it works on every windows environment up to XP. I don't know about Linux though. :p

If its DOS you want, the original XTree leaves List for dead IMHO.

I learned my computing in DOS & Win 3.1, and I never found better than XTree. I tried everything else and kept coming back.

174290 2003-09-10 03:06:00 I've got mc for Linux. It's not as simple and intuitive as List, but it actually does more. :D Graham L (2)
174291 2003-09-10 04:07:00 In the old dos days I loved XTree but in windows I have been using PowerDesk from VCOM. It allows you to view zip files as folders, does ZTreeWin do this. mikebartnz (21)
174292 2003-09-10 06:50:00 I'm not sure Mike. what exactly do you mean by viewing as folders? I do know that ZTree lets you look inside the file to see the constituent files.

Cheers

174294 2003-09-10 11:24:00 A zip file shows up just like a folder in Explorer. eg you can view, copy etc just like within any other folder mikebartnz (21)
