2003-09-10 00:57:00 | it has come to my notice and possibly other peoples as well, that apparently before my pf1 time things around here rocked along quite good... probably better than good. Thanxs to all past and present PF1 people, and the knomes for the good work and support PF1 has acheived. but have heard from different sorces and people that it's not as good anymore or lost it's appeal as theres too many gripe sessions, or in fighting especially about companys which are now in strife. and it seems to be taking on a personal basis. and i know the knomes do a fine job but the regulars are posting few and far between it seems, so just a note to say pf1 will be going on strong with or without them but with sadness because all the knowledge we have lost may not be coming back to pf1. due to unforseen circumstances to a lot of people. it really doesnt bother me about OT posts, as the primary posts are still computer related, but i just wish i knew what has lost its appeal to some people. put it down to too much to do and less time, sickness or loss of appeal. or even annoyance? hopefully they still lurk out there and will drop a line or to occasionally. i know my life is full on and find it difficult to get that quality time with friends and family, as well as sorting out the puter problems. but would like to see pf1 keep on doing the good job it has done in the past, well into the future. thanxs all pf1 related people. call in anytime... all would love to see you. ill be here somewhere if and when possible. beetle

2003-09-10 01:24:00 | people come and go all the time . there are a few oldies still lurking in the background . trust me when i say the old PF1 was sad, so sad . a least we have a fair few regulars now and that they vary from newbie home user to IT pro's . however having a bunch of kiddies scrapping it out dos put a lot of people off, exspecially as us kiwi's tend to be such shy people . . . . . . . ;-) . trouble with getiing popular is you always attract those unwanted types . fortunatly kiwi's are quite polite and we very really ever get scaps like most other forums i know . just remember people have real lives which can take them away from the forum . it also comes down to peoples personal reasons for being here :)

2003-09-10 02:05:00 | It's a bit quiet at the moment beetle, but the heart is still there, beating steadily . Like everything else in life, PF1 has seasons and cycles . Most of the time it is a positive and friendly place, OT posts and all, but every now and then it attracts the odd negative character who has a jaundiced view of life (present company excepted of course) and they make us want to lay low for a while until things return to normal . What we don't know is the number of hits PF1 attracts on a daily basis, or how many peope are logged on at any given time . Just because problem posts or responses are down at times, it doesn't mean that there are not heaps of people lurking quietly in the background . A "logged on" counter would be great, but even without it the speed of response to most questions kinda indicates that we are not alone, no matter what the time of day or night . I lurked for many months on the old forum before plucking up the courage to post, then I made heaps of friends while beta testing the new PF1 before it went live and now I try to pop in whenever business obligations allow to see if I can help anybody or to learn new things from others experiences . I have experimented with other forums :8} over the years, but they were nothing like as good as PF1, and I like the OT posts as well, nobody has to read them if they don't want to, but they are often a refreshing window on things not quite computer and they stop us taking ourselves too seriously . Cheers Billy 8-{) :D

Spot on . > What we don't know is the number of hits PF1 attracts on a daily basis, > or how many peope are logged on at any given time . A counter would be handy, more from a curiosity standpoint . Bruce what do you reakon? I aggree that PF1 is a great forum . I've only belonged to a couple of others but, have lurked around a few . The worst on (including the arrogant & offhand) PF1 are mild compared to some, which doesn't mean a slip in standards is ok to meet the lowest common . Cheers Murray P |

2003-09-10 04:24:00 | Hi. I am retired and I visit PF1 every time I am on the net. This would be every day that I can, and some times more than once. I have learnt so much from just visiting and reading even posts that don't really concern me. I have come to know some of you only through your post names and often have a chuckle at the repartee that goes on. It is easy to filter through the trash so I hope that all you knowledgeable types don't get depressed by the rabble and continue with the good advice and subtle humour. Don. :) | Don H (733) | |

2003-09-10 04:57:00 | I think people say things in text, Beetle, that they wouldnt say face to face. Also tone and expression just isnt there as in real talking, so often something is taken the wrong way, or it seems harsher than was intended. I may have been guilty of this from time to time, mainly as a result of trying to be brief :) As has been said, people come and go for different reasons, we have lost some good people. FYI I have been around PF1 since the first week it started up.

2003-09-10 05:00:00 | The forum still seems to be running well, even though some of the users who have more experience and knowledge have posted less replies etc. I also want to thank all the people - both veterans and new members who have helped me solve computer related issues, as well as all the OT posts I have made. It is a pity that there are a couple of new members who make this forum unplesant to come to at some times, with their rude and unnecessary proverbs, accusations, and put downs. It really puts you (well me anyway) in an unplesant mood, despite there being so many very helpful people on this forum, who are willing to give up their time to help others.
