| 174763 | 2003-09-12 06:14:00 | This is a semi-urgent enquiry... I need a program that is like the default MS Sound Recorder... The reason I cant use this is because my speech n music background is over the 60 seconds time frame, after which the recording automatically stops. The main feature I need is the echoing effect like in MS Sound Recorder... Many thanks, |

| 174765 | 2003-09-12 06:49:00 | Interesting the way things go ... the last entry in that thread mentions 10MB/min as a reason for the 60 sec limit. When that Sound Recorder was first written, a big hard disk was 528MB. Some Windows machines had 200 or 300 MB. A lot had 40 MB. Even at 60 sec, I bet a lot of people had disk space problems. :D |

| 174766 | 2003-09-12 06:57:00 | Yes big files :-) what I do is use CDEX to convert the wav file into an MP3, To convert a 8mb wav file takes about the same time it takes to click the mouse. Cheers Steve |

| 174767 | 2003-09-12 09:21:00 | Now, comes the hard part.. Many thanks Steve, GoldWave is a bomb.. well designed.... This recording turned out to be 5 minutes... as well as been 50MB.... its currently in *.wav format I'd like to convert this to whatever format in order to minimise the file to send over internet. *ADSL off course, I have 128k.. the person I'm sending it to have 512k* Ive heard that MIDI is the smallest format... then MP3?!?! How do you do this.. CDex as suggested above does not very very good... Many thanks once again, |
