You most certainly can do that provided you manually downloaded the updates from the MS website yourself and both computers are running the exact same version of Windows. Do not try doing this if you have Win XP Home on one computer and Win XP Pro on the other, or similar.

I do not have two versions of Win XP but I manually download all the updates and save them for reinstalling after a format. Saves me spending forever online getting them all back again, but it still takes a very long time reinstalling them. :-(

174673 2003-09-11 21:46:00 Just make sure you also run the FixBlaster check after you've updated with all the latest patches (Dont forget to check the main page of PressF1 for another fix for an ms.blaster-like hole).

Funny thing is that most people are kinda stuck... (If they dont have a firewall) Do they go online to fix the problem and risk getting the latest viruses which will prevent them from going online to get the very patches they want to prevent them?

Almost amusing if you stop and think about it... ;-)

you can download updates for different vers of windows. i usually download the bigger ones (or get them off pcworld disks) which makes it so much easier when you format/reinstall.
