So you do not have either SP install on your computer correct???? One thing you could do is re install your OS ( you will not louses any data e.g. e-mail etc.....) That could fix your Problem |

| 174630 | 2003-09-11 20:38:00 | Could you clarify whether you are running Win98 original version or Win98SE? Also what version of IE do you have, 3 or 4? It sounds like there is some internal confusion in the folders that record the install data which allow an uninstall to the original built-in version . What you are getting just shouldnt happen as IE5 . 5 SP1 wouldnt know that SP2 exists, thats an anachronism . Your system needs a good clean up with a registry cleaner and wipe all temporary folders for a start . |

Better still, Firebird. ;-) > stu140103 - pardon my ignorance, but if you reinstall your OS, wouldn't it overwrite all your data (ie: loose everything?) No, a reinstall will not overwrite your data, but a reformat definitely will. Big difference between the two. |

| 174634 | 2003-09-12 02:02:00 | Hi shione, I would suggest that U remove all Ur IE opional components from Add/Remove programs & restart with a bare minimal IE configuration. then install IE6, it aint bad, just that U upgraded after 5.5(which is fu*ked) but with SPs installed. I also use W98 with IE6 & am Happy If that fails, the previous idea of re-installing OS aint bad as long as Ur data is on a secondary drive partition.... Regards, Zubin |

| 174635 | 2003-09-12 02:17:00 | I dont quite understand shione, if you have formatted your hard drive and re-installed Win98SE, then the native IE is version 4 . To have IE5 . 5 original version, you must have loaded it over the top of version 4 . If that is what you did, then instead you should have directly installed IE 5 . 5 SP2, the service packs are full versions of IE not add on bits . But I may be misunderstanding what you have done :) |
