175535 2003-09-15 11:51:00 Just wondering what people are using, I've looked at some of the newer released Messenger clients on Linux, and from what I can tell, is that to me the fix wasn't what I expected, a quick fix, which was to ignore the message that pops up to say you are using an older version.

I just want to find out what clients you guys are using and whether the message is being reported, so I can find out if a 'real' fix has been made as I don't think this should have been the method. I think they definitely need to work on the newer protocol and drop the MSN Messenger 4.7 protocol.

Although it's working, so I'm still unsure if people need to worry about not being able to use MSN, I haven't tried aMSN yet, which was updated on 6 September 2003, and shows good signs that they've worked with MSN6 as they've got some of the newer features like animated smileys.

175536 2003-09-15 18:55:00 The Mozilla Thunderbird MSN extensioin9 (on Win98, Linux and OS/2). Works fine. I'm sure folk are working on a patch for the "new" protocols. You contact the author of any client you are using to find out the progress......... mark.p (383)
175537 2003-09-15 23:14:00 There's quite a few.. KMess, aMSN, GAIM are just a few.
I like GAIM, its the Trillian of Linux ;-)

AFAIK, GAIM are releasing a new version within a fortnight which should support the MSNv9 protocol.
aMSN are also doing the same from what I've read.
I wouldnt have a clue about KMess though sorry.

Hope this helps

Chill.
