175354 2003-09-15 05:46:00 Just wondering - What is the difference (besides the price :-) ), between a Maxtor 60Gb 7200 RPM @ $147.00 and a Maxtor 60Gb 7200 RPM Serial ATA @ $206.00.

I guess the question should be - What is a serial ATA HDD?

175355 2003-09-15 06:16:00 Serial ATA is a new type of connection for your HDD, supposed to be faster etc.

Check your motherboard supports SATA before you go buy it!

175357 2003-09-15 09:50:00 Thanks Chill, nah my machine will be too old for serial ATA, but another little bit of knowledge gained - thanks. Curly (487)
175358 2003-09-15 12:25:00 Seagate 120Gb drives with 8Mb of cache available from pp.co.nz for $230. Best deal around. PoWa (203)
175359 2003-09-16 12:15:00 I agree with the Seagate. I had a lot of trouble with the Maxtor. I've now got the Barracuda 80gb. Seems to be doing okay. makara (4567)
