My point exactly. They couldn't run a computer business either.

175419 2003-09-20 02:05:00 Some of the "smart" comments appearing here are verging on defamatory. Perhaps the company could get back in business by suing some of you. The trouble is that the only certain result would be enrichment of lawyers. :-(

Apart from the possibility that you might be held responsible for your words, the PC Company is not in receivership, or in liquidation. There is a "scheme of arrangement". That is a different thing.

175420 2003-09-20 02:10:00 Your wrong, the company is in the hands of the liquididators, its gone, assets are being sold.

Besides, anyone who has had to change his company name 5 times in a row is a crook.

175421 2003-09-20 02:20:00 Actually, you may be right,Some sort of deal apears to be going ojn but they will never trade again.

Stricken computer retailer The PC Company Ltd will not trade again after last minute refinancing arranged by managing director Colin Brown failed to save the company

The PC Company, which closed its doors two weeks ago, revealed on Monday it was headed for receivership after failing to secure the funding required to begin trading again.

The company will not be placed in receivership but a scheme of arrangement is to be negotiated with creditors.

175422 2003-09-20 07:53:00 Graham, I heard on the news a sound-bite from Colin Brown saying he was going to "call the receivers in tomorrow" His words.

I have also seen it reported elsewhere as well:

Todays Press (20 Sept) has an article stating that an arrangement will be put in place .

I guess that takes precedence over the previous articles in the link (15th and 18th Sept)?

As an aside, its a pity that the company is not going to be there in the future . All NZ computer buyers have something to thank the PC Company for, even if they never bought their product .

It was competition, and probably saved all of us money indirectly .

Its also quite sad and more than somewhat disturbing to see the comments posted by some people . Do they not realise that this is a public forum, and the laws of defamation apply, and identity is quite easy to discover?

175425 2003-09-20 11:26:00 Are they going to put stuff for sale? Like when PC Direct sold their's at Turner's Auctions :D The software will be good, the consumables, the CPU and HDD should be alright .. just not the PSU, Case and mobo ;) nomad (3693)
