175338 2003-09-15 09:16:00 Whoops, sorry - I was using Netscape on this computer, and not Explorer on the Win98 one, hence the blank page. Will go and read now.

175339 2003-09-15 09:16:00 mark.p Did you know that MS changed their minds on Win98, and are supporting till Jan 2004. No reason given either.
Read about it here (www.sysopt.com)

Is that with using Internet Explorer or using Netscape to view the page?

175342 2003-09-15 09:26:00 Thanks for that Pheonix. Wonder was because of pressure from industry? And folk are'nt moving as quick to XP as MS would like. mark.p (383)
175343 2003-09-15 09:27:00 Hmm, well I did receive an Administrators Only message, but it only covered 2000, XP or Windows Server 2003. It was as if Windows update thought that the 98 computer now ran one of those. I see there is a fix for administrator messages, but it involves registry changes. I am not brave enough for that :(

175344 2003-09-15 09:37:00 Your error message said "Note If you are running a Windows 2000 (except DataCenter), Windows XP, or Windows Server 2003 operating system, you can run the local administrator account on your computer without having to log off and then log on again.

But you are not, so therefore the suggestion for ME or 98 users was to try that registry hack.

How about you just use regedit to go and look at the setting it suggested, you don't need to touch anything. It is quite safe to browse the registry and you can't do any damage by just looking and not touching anything :). If you can see you have the correct setting anyway, at least you can rule that out.
