| 175291 | 2003-09-15 03:42:00 | Hi guys i don't know about this... i am currently using a computer that has 512MB RAM, 40GB 7200 HDD... and using the Windows XP Pro I am just wondering, every time I finished loading any item, supposed the HDD should be quiet, but it has to do something that I don't know what it is doing (like the HDD is moving and it is only last less than 2 second)... wot i am thinking is the Norton is running at the background monitoring my HDD and involved those 2 second HDD movement? am i correct? does it supposed to be like that? i hope u guys understand wot i am referring and I hope I can have a reply from u... jacky |

It is used to index all the files on your hard drive, so you can find things quicker - creates more of a slowdown than advantage. Check out the scheduled tasks in control panel to see if you've got anything scheduled in there. Turn off system restore if you don't need it, disable automatic updates, and make your paging file a fixed size (512min, 512max). |
