175973 2003-09-17 07:42:00 Australian PC User mag. suggests a modem check and tweak to try and improve overall speeds. In XP Device Manager I checked to see that my modem was set to 115200 (ok) and noted my Port Number Com 3 as it was suggested that this should also be set to 115200. On returning to the Port section of Device Manager I find that I only have Port Com 1 and Port Com 2 listed, both set at 9600. I.E. No listing for Port Com 3.

There is also a listing for the Printer Port, LPT1.

Where do I find Port Com 3, or should I leave well enough alone ?

175974 2003-09-17 08:10:00 It only applies to serial ports that appear as the 9 pin connectors on the back of the computer. As com3 is a "virtual" com port, it is already set at maximum. The "virtual" com ports apply to internal modems. Pheonix (280)
