176176 2003-09-18 06:59:00 I have finished setting up a new hard drive on which everything is working great but ZoneAlarm, for some reason it seems to go to sleep if my PC is left on for a period of time not being used ( more than 1hr ) with Outlook in box running and nothing else.when it goes to sleep it stop access to the net for Internet Explorer if you launch it, till I turn off ZoneAlarm and restart ZoneAlarm again its all fine until it goes to sleep again,I also think when it is asleep Outlook stops accessing the server also with a error till restart of ZoneAlarm, If you keep using PC it won't go to sleep,Its like a clock running on how long its idle and if it is a while it stop access to the net,no screen saver or anything like it is enabled.
The new drive is using Win XP, Office XP, the Free ZoneAlarm, Jetstart internet connection, everything is updated and patched.
My old drive was same except it didn't have Office XP, I had no such problems.
Any ideas appreciated,
John.

176177 2003-09-18 07:10:00 Could be Office trying to access the net or lan and it doesn't have a rule associated with it yet. Check the rules/file associations and have a look at the ZA log file (be called filter log or some such in the ZA folder) for hints to the problem.

Easiest fix would be to use Kerio or Agnitum Outpost, both free and less hassle IMO but, that could be seen as running from the problem ;)
