My Compaq Deskpro Suddenly started to Take 1 1/2 minutes to count the ram then another 4 minutes to boot, so I reset the Defaults in the Bios and as I had written down the settings I re set to the origonal setup, Now I get the Compaq splash screen coming up and the Ram count is still going on in the back ground behind the spash screen and still taking over 5 minutes to fully load. this Problem has just started within the past few weeks, prior it took 2 minutes to fully load up XP Pro.
I have run AVG and Nortons Virus and the hard drive is clear. The computer is a PII 350, I feel the problem lurks in the Bios or Boot Block but not sure how to cure it, any help appreciated. Thanks |
