| 176552 | 2003-09-20 00:55:00 | i have two PC's networked together using a crossover cable, PC1 with the modem is running win2k and has a IP 192.168.0.1 on the subnet mask 255.255.255.0, PC2(client trying to access the internet) is running winXP with a dynamic IP of 192.168.0.2 on the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. ICS is enabled on the first PC and the network is behaving normally except the client is unable to surf the net. I can browse folders from PC2 on PC1 and files from PC1 on PC2. PC1 with the modem has full access to the internet e.g is fine browsing and downloading. All firewalls have been turned off including the defualt winXP one, the only protocol being used is TCP/IP. Does anyone have any idea why PC2 cant surf the net? |

| 176553 | 2003-09-20 01:20:00 | Is it an internal or external modem? If external is it an ethernet connection or usb? If ethernet, do you have two network cards in the gateway PC, one for the lan and one to connect to the modem? Whats your modems IP? Cheers Murray P |

| 176554 | 2003-09-20 01:26:00 | have you tried to run windows XP network wizard? when run XP network wizard, choose connect through LAN. and on the XP machine, goto cmd line mode, ping www.xtra.co.nz, and ping 203.96.152.4. if still no luck, install SP4 for w2000, double check settings on ICS. |

| 176557 | 2003-09-21 09:25:00 | On the XP one, under the Lan Properties/TCP/IP/properties under use the following DNS server type in 192.168.0.1. and OK. That may fix the prob. |
