176393 2003-09-19 04:42:00 recently when downloading a large amount of files I accidently unticked "always ask before opening this kind of file" and now it opens zips instead of saving them. I refuse to use "save target as" because it is inconvienient and some sites disable right clicking. So is it possible to retick this thing somehow? Thanks. Wilky (776)

176395 2003-09-19 05:43:00 Hi, not 100% sure but is this an file association problem?
if so then this is probably the solution-

In My Computer or Windows Explorer, on the View menu, click Folder Options .

Click the File Types tab .

Click the file type you want to modify, and then click Edit .

If necessary, in Description of type, type the appropriate information for the new file type .

If necessary, in Associated extension, type the extension you want for the new file type .

Click New .

In Action, enter the action that you want to define (such as Open or Print) .

In Application used to perform action, enter the command that you want to complete this action, and then click OK .

176396 2003-09-19 05:48:00 No, it's nothing to do with file association. When you click on a download link in IE6, it usually pops up a dialog asking whether you would like to open the file or save it to disk.
there is a tick box. "Always ask before opening this kind of file?"
I unticked it by accident, and now it opens zip files instead of downloading them.
