176385 2003-09-19 04:38:00 SORRY TO ask but I have looked up search and find information going back to 1999 and there is so much data I am confused. It appears you can buy cards from $69.00 TO $1000.00 AND Although I prefer NOT TO HAVE THE HIGH END....i WANT A CARD which will suit an XP Prof of high ram for copying videos and putting on to disk as well as viewing TV. I have no interest in games.....once again HELP please..your recommendation greatly appreciate...incidentally I am now olldaddy77.... olldaddy76 (2539)
176386 2003-09-19 05:07:00 I use a GeoForce MX460 64 MB card for video capture . I use a Lifeview TV card for watching TV on the PC

For viewing TV on the PC you need a TV card, separate to the video card .
Do not make the assumption that "TV Out" on the video card lets you tune into TV on the PC . TV Out is where you can plug an S-Video cable between the card and a suitably equipped TV, so you can see the output of the card on a TV .

Used for watching DVDs using a DVD drive on the PC, and the TV as the larger display .

Not suited to using a TV as a computer monitor though, poor resolution .

You can get a high end MX or a TI series video card quite cheaply now, and they will adequately do what you want

You need to be certain your PC has an AGP slot that you can put a card in of course .
