| 176963 | 2003-09-22 06:12:00 | i apologise if u already know about this but anyway.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are several viruses in circulation disguised as official e-mails from Microsoft. They include attachments that are described in the email as being update patches for Windows. Installing the "patches" will actually install the virus. The "installation" procedure actually looks like a normal update installation. If you click the "Cancel" button during the installation, it gives the appearance of actually stopping the installation. In fact the install goes ahead anyway. The viruses can take advantage of an IFrame vulnerability in Windows. This is the same vulnerability that was exploited by the Klez and Tanatos viruses. Microsoft has released an update for the IFrame vulnerability. See Microsoft Security Bulletin MS01-20 at www.microsoft.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
