177255 2003-09-23 02:57:00 Is it possible to have two seperate PCs being on the internet on one domestic phone line or a variation of this. eg jetstream or what ever. When the two are networked it's ok, but I keep loosing my network and I don't know why veterannz (960)
177256 2003-09-23 03:04:00 You can't run two DSL modems off the one phone line. I believe the strong signal modem gets through while the other one stays waiting for the handshaking process, but never connects as I attempted this not so long ago.

Fix the network seems the better option in this case, so give us more details on your networking situation (how it's connected up e.g crossover, switch/hub, CAT5e cable, etc), operating system, network settings whether static IP or DHCP. Read the FAQs on this site for more information and post problems you encounter and I'm sure some people here will be able to help you.

177257 2003-09-23 03:18:00 I'm using a crossover cable. My main OS is XP with the secondary PC is win98se. I don't understand what static IP or DHCP is. I have Nortons AV as well as their personal firewall 2003 veterannz (960)
177258 2003-09-23 05:13:00 To fix up your network check out the forum's FAQ section for the Network FAQ and see if that helps. If you still have questions come back and ask. :-) Susan B (19)
177259 2003-09-23 05:39:00 You can have as many pcs on the one phone line as you like with a Router and some switches.

You can also have two internet connections on the one line as well: A jetstream conenction and a 56k connection. Just make sure the 56k line is going through a microfilter to filter out the high frequency of the adsl.
