| 177212 | 2003-09-23 01:00:00 | I am wanting to uninstall WinXp, and then install Win98se. I have no floppy drive. I would appreciate step-by-step instructions on how to do this please, or a link to somewhere that explains it in basic language. Thanks. | novice (4614) | ||

| 177214 | 2003-09-23 04:44:00 | 1] Fit a floppy drive, you can pick one up at a flea market for $10 & only about $25 new. 2] Boot the computer on the Windows 98 se CD then install over the top of XP. Will only work if the format is Fat32. 3] If XP is still working - Move your files to another partition / drive/ USB Flash drive, then Format the Primary partition with Partition Magic on CD. |

| 177215 | 2003-09-23 05:11:00 | mzee: why does he/she need a floppy drive? If he/she is going to boot from the Win 98 CD and install over Win XP when will the floppy be used?? Novice: I am not sure of the procedure to wipe Win XP in order to install Win 98 but the forum has a FAQ section (link top right of this page) where there is a FAQ on installing Windows. You may find it useful, but wait for one of the experts to advise on the wiping of Win XP bit first. |
