| 177644 | 2003-09-24 13:24:00 | Found earlier, Microsoft Corp. announced Wednesday it would shut down its Internet chat rooms in 28 countries, saying the forums had become a haven for peddlers of junk e-mail and sex predators. “The straightforward truth of the matter is free unmoderated chat isn’t safe,” said Geoff Sutton, European general manager of Microsoft MSN. The above is only the Headlines,and in the main article,the shutdown is 14th October. Didn't mention Australasia but the US,Canada and Japan will continue! Personally I couldn't care less as from what I have seen they are so porn orientated you could catch more than a cold when surfing them?LOL Cheers,Kiwitas,;-) |

| 177645 | 2003-09-24 14:06:00 | finally they doing something about it.... it sucks too coz it shows that privledges like this is being abused... chatrooms made for people to talk and stuff, just gone way outta control... i agree wif someone who spoke on da news 2nite that there are still other chatrooms around, and more would just be made...and this is only the start... i really hope yahoo follows considering i went into a computer support chatroom 2nite just to see whos after help for whatever.....and arrghhhhhhh..but u get to block that user so thats kinda good...cant do that in msnchat... and australia is not being included in closing chatrooms (i wonder why hmm)....the united states are turning chatrooms into a subscription based service but in new zealand they shutting them down.... (i apologise if my information is wrong but this was what was said on the news via captions and yes i admit sometimes captions are mistyped....) some ppl reckon this is a "excuse" just to lay off staff and cut back costs....so i wonder what the exact truth is...but hey...anything to stop the adults who "get off on" kids...and sex stuff...so good on ya microsoft :D |
