2003-09-23 23:42:00 | Does anyone have any idea when we are likely to see pc games and other software coming out on DVD rom? I know that most new pc's have dvd drives in them now days but if someone was to fork out a couple of g's for a new pc without a DVD drive how long would it be till they were upgrading there drive to dvd or repalcing the system? just curious mik

2003-09-24 03:00:00 | I heard that Metal Gear Solid 2 is coming out on DVD Rom, I think it takes something like 7GB on your hard drive, so it will b e stupid to have on normal CD. | attaboy999 (3517) | |

2003-09-24 03:09:00 | I have seen quite a few games come out on both CD-ROM and DVD. The only real difference is that the video clips, like the intro or between missions, are a lot higher quality on the DVD.

I would expect Doom3 to come out on dvd-rom as it must be pretty huge and you need a pretty up-to-date computer to play it, so I think its safe to assume they will have a dvd-rom in that new computer :) Maybe they will start releasing two version, one for cd, and one for dvd - and you get to pick :) |

2003-09-26 09:41:00 | I have a game released in about 97 or 98 on DVD - "Riven - The Sequel to Myst". I believe there are a lot of games available on DVD, however they're not on DVD in NZ... I guess the market isn't big enough here. Mike.
