| 177463 | 2009-04-16 03:38:00 | "Dream Machine" an interesting concept, most of us would love a Ferrari. But the practicality is suspect. I have a number of computers, and even the base models, 2.0 gig AMD 64X2 variants, with 2 gig 800hz memory do not get into 100% CPU or Memory situations. I mostly us them as hacks but all handle varied copying, transfer jobs. For my own Gaming/ Home theatre I use an AMD dual channel @3.00 gig with 4 gig PC6400 and a nice Graphics card, at this level it is more likely that your net connection will be a problem for you. The real difference between the two systems is marginal, unless you are playing high spec games. Music and most applications are the same, the graphics are better, but only if your Monitor / screen are good. Online with the good system you get shot less due to reaction time, and you can shoot faster. But unless you want that use, a BMW or old Merc may do the job. A $1000.00 NZ should see you set up with a fast and well spec'd machine, that could be improved as technology improves. Check out the AMD 7750 with 3MB cache, with a good but not expensive Asus board and Nvidea graphics. You would have a very nice rig to add what ever you want in terms of drives, SATA 2 preferred. DVD/ ?Blueray and Mice etc. |
