1347352 2013-06-28 10:38:00 My Win 8 Pro crashed the first time this afternoon. When I turned it ON earlier this afternoon, it says that there's an error (something to that effect) and restarted by itself. I restarted the machine several times after that without anymore issues.

Event log shows this:

"ATI EEU maximum number has been surpassed."

Event ID: 16391

Any idea what's that mean?

1347353 2013-06-28 11:11:00 Did it simply crash , or did it BSOD and crash - If it did a BSOD the dump file created will tell you exactly ( hopefully) what was the actual cause. wainuitech (129)
1347354 2013-06-28 11:54:00 No BSOD, it just says that there's an error and the system has to be restarted - and it restarted OK. LOL

Any idea what's the "ATI EEU maximum number has been surpassed." ?

That's identified as 'Critical Error' in event log.

My display card is an old ATI Redeon 4850. I did not installed the latest driver as Win 8 doesn't quite like it (can't remember exactly what was it).

1347355 2013-06-28 12:13:00 So you were using Win8's default drivers? Did you get the drivers / 13.1 from the AMD site? The drivers that caused probs? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1347356 2013-06-28 21:36:00 Yes. I'm using the default driver.

I'm a bit nervous to install the latest driver ver 13.1 as Win 8 didn't behave normally (can't remember exactly what was it) when I tried the older ver 12.6 from AMD.

1347357 2013-06-28 22:00:00 When I installed the (I think I installed the 12.6 drivers), the camera app wouldnt work. But did work with Win8's default drivers. I didnt try the 13.1 drivers, because I've removed the ATI videocard that was in the case. And replaced it with a basic Nvidia card (because the ATI fan used to make a hell of a noise, and got on my nerves). Speedy Gonzales (78)
