1347184 2013-06-27 21:42:00 I have just downloaded the DVD version (EN - English, not GE - German edition). It took several hours for the ISO file to download.

It is a stand alone DVD version that can be setup on the HDD is one wishes. It appears to be very comprehensive and some might think it is over the top. I would be interested in thoughts of others as to what they think of this system.

One day when I am brave enough I might set this up on the HDD as a bootable option to WIN 7/8. However, your feed back would be welcomed.

1347185 2013-06-28 00:04:00 I have used Knoppix linux for years. I use it as a boot disk and a means of dealing with Windows files without permission. These days I use 'Puppy Linux', also on a boot-able CD. Puppy has 'Part edit' partition manager on it which is very useful when making and modifying partitions. An example is altering the size of your 'C' drive which can not be done in Windows. No point installing to HD as they work better on CD and do not affect Windows. They are useful for diagnosing faults if your PC refuses to boot on the Hard Drive, and to copy files, drivers etc to an external drive prior to re-installing Windows. mzee (3324)
1347186 2013-06-28 03:20:00 It was one of the first bootable linux's, I recall using it back when I was working at PCW some 9 years ago. These days most distros will boot in to some sort of live CD environment you can use them in before installing. I'd personally stick with Mint over Knoppix. Chilling_Silence (9)
1347187 2013-06-28 04:08:00 The version I have is 7 and it was released in Dec. 2012. It is the DVD version and has a great number of goodies. Bryan (147)
1347188 2013-06-28 07:23:00 I too use puppy but have it on a flash drive as well as a CD, its much quicker to run on a flash drive so long as the computer can boot from one gary67 (56)
1347189 2013-06-28 09:56:00 I used to use Knoppix when it was about the only "technician's" bootable CD - I tend to use PartedMagic these days. johnd (85)
