| 1323170 | 2013-01-17 02:50:00 | It's been brought to my attention that I still wear a napkin from the 1600s to work because it is considered 'office attire'! Anyone working in an office environment being forced to do the same? Comments? |

If the job requires it, I will explain that I am not interested, thank you... I will never wear a tie again. I can dress scruffier in a suit and tie than 'normal' clothes. Insistence on a tie in the 21st century is stupid - especially in a sub-tropical country. |

| 1323172 | 2013-01-17 04:30:00 | I'm with you, Johcar. I gave 2 suits away 12 years ago, and although I kept a couple of my best ties, I don't wear them, either. The only time I wear the last remaining suit is to a more formal wedding, or a funeral - but without a tie. I get called on from time to time to give the tux an airing and then I'll wear a bow tie (pre-tied!), but that's it. In LN's case though, I think his office need to put their staff at a perceived upper level from most of their client base so I'd tend to go along with that. It's a useful tool to help exert some level of authority. :2cents: |

It never bothered me at all & if it was optionalI would still have worn a tie. To me it is a mark of respect to the customer. So yes, I am old fashoned. I am watching a TV doco on the NZ Customs & note that all the officers are in ties with their uniforms. Very smart in my vieww. PJ |

| 1323177 | 2013-01-17 18:39:00 | I see loads of men in suits and shirts without a tie. So long as you are dressing in business attire I don't think they can force you to wear a certain item. |
