1322971 2013-01-15 21:09:00 I want to buy a Poetic Slimline case for my Nexus 7, and they are on special at Amazon at the moment. Unfortunately, though Amazon is prepared to ship books to me in NZ (at rip off prices), it will not ship this tablet case. Perhaps it will compromise the defence of the USA.

Can anyone recommend (on the basis of experience with them) a USA shipping agent so I can supply Amazon with a US shipping address? Thanks for any help.

John

1322972 2013-01-15 21:11:00 Ship it via ship2u, will probably cost you $20 for the shipping. Use their shipping address. Chilling_Silence (9)
1322973 2013-01-15 21:19:00 Thanks Chill. If that is the case, then it probably means this is not a worth while purchase - I baulk when the price of the postage exceeds the cost of the item! Maybe I will just put up with the naff case I have at the moment. John H (8)
1322974 2013-01-15 22:40:00 shipito (http://www.shipito.com/) ... $10 to open an account ... been using them for quite a while and they give excellent service. SP8's (9836)
1322975 2013-01-16 01:30:00 + 2 for shipito, very satisfied with their setup so far. Iantech (16386)
1322976 2013-01-16 01:43:00 you could try nzpost youshop not quite sure about the price probably around $15-20 as well. It doesn't cost to make an account with youshop. jonovw (16835)
1322977 2013-01-17 02:44:00 Have a look at BuyUSA: www.buyusa.co.nz stu161204 (123)
1322978 2013-02-03 23:11:00 I thought I would report back on what happened. I chose NZ Post Youshop (thanks jonovw). I hadn't heard of their service, and figured that I would:
a) patronise a NZ firm rather than an offshore one, and
b) have more comeback against a NZ firm if anything went pearshaped.

The whole thing went really well - it was easy to set up an account at Youshop, and Amazon didn't blink at sending the case to what was clearly an accommodation address for a NZ shipper. NZ Post kept in touch all the way - they let me know when the parcel arrived and asked for payment for the international postage to NZ. When I did that, they dispatched the parcel and it arrived this am.

I guess the only problem with this sort of system is that you will often have to pay internal US postage as well as international postage, so it could get expensive. However, there are no suppliers in NZ for this case, so against the cost, you would need to weigh the advantage of getting something that would otherwise be unavailable in NZ, or where the comparative US/NZ prices for a product make the extra p & p costs manageable.

1322979 2013-02-04 00:46:00 Mind me asking what it cost to get forwarded, and how big / heavy your package was? Chilling_Silence (9)
1322980 2013-02-04 01:19:00 $NZ22 from YouShop USA to home (no cost for setting up the Youshop account). In this case there was free postage from Amazon to Youshop USA because of a special offer by Amazon. The package weighed diddlysquat because it was a cover for the Nexus 7 (though it was in a box that was about 10 times bigger than it needed to be...). John H (8)
