Even when you boot from other devices the hdd is often still accessed as part of the start up process. A live CD of some kind would let you confirm everything else is working ok. |

| 1347751 | 2013-07-04 00:52:00 | Right, i have had some info from the owner of the netbook, she dropped something on the HDD area which explains a lot. However i tried my samsung SSD in her laptop and it didnt even turn on with it in there? My pc booted to the error screen with the laptop hard drive however so i found that very odd, also all the keys are messed up, the letter work but the secondary symbols like ?/;'-= etc do not correspond. Is this still a HDD error or is it something bigger? | osbornezo (16903) | ||

A clicky HD is on its last legs BEFORE doing anything else, you need to get the data off that HD. Attach her HD as a secondary HD , on your PC, so that it boots to win off your HD. Then backup/recover her data sounds like the wrong region setting for the k/b , thats why some of the symbols dont correspond. If something has been dropped onto the netbook, it could have all sorts of faults, HD, Keyboard, damaged mainboard |
