It is something that is unique to New Zealand and will help remind those New Zealanders there Maori or pakeha of home. The joke by Solomon about Maori lodging a claim on Antarctica most likely would not go down too well in some circles. |

The point is we have thousands of people on hospital waiting lists needing joint replacements, heart surgery, cataract operations, you name it, and here we are wasting money on a junket to the Antarctic for a select few to deliver a hunk of old Totara. Personally, I doubt that anybody who chose to work and live in the Antarctic would draw any comfort from the hunk of old Totara unless it was thrown on the fire. |
