1322861 2013-01-17 07:53:00 I used strenuous efforts to find, wipe and dry my Galaxy after it fell in a stormwater drain just before xmas and vanished underground. Black phones dry good in the hot sun if propped up just right. Putting it under the tap to rinse the mud out did feel distinctly uncomfortable though. R2x1 (4628)

1322864 2013-01-17 20:19:00 Anybody use security software that allows you to remotely find (and wipe) your phone?

Please tell me you haven't lost/had stolen your Nexus 4 already *facepalm*

1322865 2013-01-17 20:56:00 No.

It hasn't left my side since I got it. :p

The local paper had an article about a women whose iPhone got nicked. She had installed some security/locator app that allow her to track her phone via the web. The police commented in the article that if they got an address for the phones location, it gave them a valid reason to pay them a visit.

Another item in the news recently was the person whose phone got stolen and they had it set for uploading photos automatically. To their surprise, a couple took a photo of themselves (unknown whether they were the thieves) after the phone was stolen.

I was just curious to whether people here had such software installed. I've got a PIN on my lock screen, but I imagine you can get past that with a bit of effort.

1322866 2013-01-17 21:20:00 Mine either :)

Yeah I heard about the uploaded photo . Moral of the story - Don't steal smartphones (But also don't steal at all!) .

I was using the facial recognition unlock with patern requirement should that fail . *so* cool just wake the phone up and look at it and tada you're in!

1322867 2013-01-18 20:31:00 I've just uninstalled Lookout after seeing my extra large battery go flat in 4 days instead of 1 week! Neil McC (178)
1322868 2013-01-19 12:08:00 Make sure you turn on Instant Upload in G+, its fantastic! Photos are kept 100% private until you decide to share them, so it doesn't matter of you take embarrassing pix or whatever. I find it fantastic!! Chilling_Silence (9)
1322869 2013-01-19 13:43:00 I've been putting a few things up on my Blog for all my friends and family who've just got the Nexus 4, they'd certainly classify as useful "tips and tricks"!

Thanks for that. Made for some good reading.
