1347705 2013-07-02 05:06:00 I've got an HP notebook here with Win7 on it. Everything works, but the keys asdf, jkl; and the enter key work when they feel like it.

Everytime I turn it on, these keys dont work straight away. But (maybe) after 20-25 mins they do? I've checked to see if there's anything under these keys. There's nothing

Any ideas on what I can check / do to see what's causing this?

1347706 2013-07-02 05:47:00 Does a USB keyboard have the same issue? wratterus (105)
1347707 2013-07-02 05:48:00 I'll try that in a sec. Just booting into safe mode to see if they work in there. OK they dont work in safe mode either. Wireless adapter / keyboard / mouse work fine Speedy Gonzales (78)
1347708 2013-07-02 05:57:00 I've seen a sort of similar problem as this on old Acer Aspire/Travelmate 3000 series notebooks, it was to do with the ACPI power manager/battery lever checker thing. Seemed to be a hardware issue as whenever I came across it, a reinstall didn't fix the problem, but disabling the ACPI thing in the device manager did.

But I don't think that's whats happening here.

You've re-seated the ribbon cable, and reset/updated the BIOS?

1347709 2013-07-02 06:05:00 What ribbon cable?? The BIOS has been updated. The latest BIOS is on it atm. I cant change anything in the BIOS, because enter doesnt work in here either lol. Speedy Gonzales (78)
1347710 2013-07-02 07:04:00 Connected a USB keyboard/mouse. So I could get into the BIOS. Set it to its defaults / reconfigured it. Saved settings. And nope, no change Speedy Gonzales (78)
1347711 2013-07-02 07:12:00 Had the same problem with my old laptop and it was a Compaq. Certain keys didn't work at times. But didn't last as long as you have described. A few minutes at most it lasted. QW. (15883)
