| 1347541 | 2013-06-30 08:29:00 | I am so glad, happy and thankful to hear that this forum is no longer closing, last night I got onto the forum again, and I was about to write up a eulogy, about how the forum and the magazine have seen so many changes over the past 20 or so years in the NZ I.T industry, also about how sad I was to see it go. Come to think of it, what comes to mind for some reason is how we have lost so many computer retailers who built up NZ assembled computers, like PC Direct, PC Company, and the warranty system that was set up to cope with warranty's once these and other retailers started going under, which was called CMANZ - (Computer Manufactures Association Of New Zealand) They eventually went under themselves as they couldn't cope with the amount of retailers who were going under. I thought about all this because I saw and old PC Direct Discovery Series, Pentium 1 or below, Desktop still being used on the counter at the Westgate Video Easy today. Also PC Company's struggles can still be seen from forum posts dating back to approx 2003 on this forum  I do know that they will stop publishing the magazine which is sad too, but to also take down the website/forum, would have been a very silly idea. I want to personally thank them :thanks for keeping this website and forum open, as after nearly 13 so something years it is still so popular. Hope to see this forum gracing the NZ I.T world for many years to come. Logan Loye |
