| 1347460 | 2013-06-29 04:57:00 | I need a bit of help. I am trying to set up a Canon MG5460. So far I have set up the "Wireless LAN Setup" as a Standard Setup. It brings up my Router name ok but then it says "Enter passphrase". I Presume that this is the passphrase for my Router?. |

You just have to make sure you connect it (during the install) to a USB port. And once its configured (if you want to use wireless), you can put the printer anywhere you like. I set the wireless (SSID and pw), on the printer first, before I installed the driver for it. And once the drivers were installed, it picked up the SSID. Then all I had to do was connect it to the network |

I presume I could do a reinstall and use a USB cord as you suggest?. |

| 1347465 | 2013-06-29 23:32:00 | If everything works (without a cable) it should be OK. But, if it doesnt, yup, you'll have to buy a USB cable. Install the drivers first (it should tell you when to connect the printer / turn it on). then it should install the drivers etc Well, thats how I set this one up anyway. And if you need to update the firmware on it (the update will be on the Canon site), you need a USB cable. You cant update the firmware wirelessly. Since if it fails, you'll have a dead printer |

| 1347466 | 2013-06-30 00:03:00 | Appreciate your advice and help. I will have another go at it when I get a USB Cable. I thought it would be simple to set up, but perhaps not for an elderly noob!! | Pato (2463) | ||
| 1347467 | 2013-06-30 05:00:00 | Well I used an USB Cable and everything seemed to be ok. It detected my SSID ok but when I try to print wirelessly it tells me my printer is off line. Still something not quite right, but I'll get there in the end. |

| 1347468 | 2013-07-01 00:14:00 | Sometimes, wireless printing just doesnt work reliably. For a variety of reasons If you can use USB instead, do so. or , give the printer a static IP , connect the printer to the router via ethernet/network cable . This gives more reliable wifi printing . or, the printer might require the wifi to be WPA/WPA2 . Check the wifi security settings on the router or, there may be a powersave setting on the printer you may need to disable |

| 1347469 | 2013-07-01 00:20:00 | Only prob is, if you want it to be wireless, you wouldnt connect it to ethernet / and it wouldnt be wireless. And some wireless printers dont have ethernet (ie: this printer doesnt have ethernet). Its been fine here since I set it up. It prints and scans wirelessly no prob at all. Only thing I havent tried is wireless faxing |
