2013-06-29 01:39:00 | Something doesn't seem to be quite right with our Gargoyle quotas, as Gargoyle's usage figures doesn't agree with Networx's - in my case, currently the tablet says I've used 70MB and the desktop 187MB, yet Gargoyle claims I've used 722MB. Networx is filtering out local traffic within the LAN, does Gargoyle do the same? EDIT: Perhaps Networx is having issues tracking usage in Metro apps, because I watched about four videos in HD using Metrotube and one of them was 85MB...

2013-07-01 03:49:00 | AFAIK, Gargoyle doesn't monitor internal traffic. My figures are always close, but almost never identical, to the Telstra/Vodafone ones, I assume because of differences in counting the transfer size (packet overhead, etc.?). They diverge a a lot more nowadays due to some sites being unmetered (TV3 & TradeMe, for instance). Don't think it's that easy to make Gargoyle keep track of those... | MushHead (10626) | |
2013-07-01 04:30:00 | Gargoyle will "count" anything going from the LAN port out the WAN port. I'd hazard a guess that software one isn't as accurate ;-)

It's only shortcoming... Yeah figured Networx wasn't accurate after I worked out that one YouTube video was bigger than my apparent usage :p Yeah pretty much I've never really trusted software-based ones. The router is always more reliable in my experience. If you take off the "Exclude LAN traffic" option is it more accurate though ? |

2013-07-01 05:54:00 | If I turn off "exclude LAN traffic" that'll be even less accurate as there's a lot of traffic within the LAN... | pcuser42 (130) | |
